Party and farewell

Yesterday night we had a goodbye party at our house. :(

There were 8 people in total. To start with we had a bit of running around and screaming.  Then we decorated T-shirts.

I drew a horse, Lydia drew a dragon and Jasmine wrote 'Third Grade Rules!'
Then we had pizza.

Then we screamed and ran around for a while. Then we played Duck, Duck Goose.

Then everyone went home and we were sad. Then Ellen went for a sleepover. Then me and Mum watched a movie on the TV. Then we went to bed. And now I shall use up lots of forgotten EXCLAMATION MARKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now we are packing ready to go home. See you in England!!!

School Christmas Concert

Heeeeellooo, people.

On Tuesday night it was our Christmas concert. It was like a musical: lots of ... music. People did stand up and talk though. I was in it. I was a sheep. My class sang 5 songs.

Sledding

It is SNOWING! IT IS SNOWING SOOOOOOO MUCH ALLL THE TIME!

We sled down our back garden most of the time, but by Sunday our snow lady had sort of deteriorated so we sledded down her!! We wear water proof ‘pants’ [trousers] and coats and gloves so we are TOTALLY SNOWPROOF!! The only bad thing about SNOW is that Mum drives to school at 10 mph every morning to make sure she doesn’t skid... [Ahem... she exaggerates slightly... Mum!]

We went to Catherine and Patrice’s house because they’ve got a cool hill for sledding down.

Girl Scout Farewell

Today, we went to Girl Scouts for the last time. It’s so close to us leaving :( Next week!

We said the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. I got cards. They sang songs for us.

Christmas Music

Messiah

The Messiah concert was very interesting. There was lots of singing I couldn’t really understand (even if it was in English!).  At the end they sung the Hallelujah chorus and everyone stood up. This is because when it was first sung to the king he liked it sooooo much HE stood up!! My friend Stephen’s sister sang a solo!!!

Click here to hear a recording of a bit of last year's concert.

Glee Club Concert

The week after the Messiah we went to another concert in the same place as the Messiah. It was more excitable than the Messiah though. Stephen was there. There were only boys singing. At the end, Santa came.   This is the first song that they sang.  But in the concert the boys wore suits. On a few of the songs students introduced them. One person said "They only gave me one song to announce cos I’m short! The only reason I mention this is because SMALL GUYS ROCK"!!!!!!!!!!!!

Choir Concert

On Sunday we sang in a choir concert. I had a sore throat so I had to sing quietly. We sang The Hallelujah Chorus.

I SANG A SOLO!!!! It was in a song called "A virgin most pure"!

There were cookies afterwards.

Maddie SNOWATHON

St Louis

To ze English peoople, hello!

After Thanksgiving we went to St. Louis, Missouri.  To see St Louis on a map of the United States, click here. (You might have to zoom out to see where it is in relation to Indiana).

We stayed in a hotel called Drury Inn. The hotel had a swimming pool. The pool was really cold, but they had a spa too.

The Gateway Arch in St Louis is ENORMOUS!

Here, see for yourself!

Big is it not? Inside it you can...

1. Go to museums (click here to read more)

2. Take a tram to the top (click here to read more)

Outside you can...

3. Go to the Mississippi river

4. Take a Helicopter tour

5. Take a boat tour

Out of all these 5 things we did... two. We went to a museum called the Museum of Westward Expansion where we found out about the pioneers and how they travelled west.  And we saw the Mississippi. We went back 2 times, to try to go up the arch, but eventually we just gave up as the queues were too long.
Us by the Mississippi

Us in the museum
Hi. When we got to St Louis, we went to the City Museum - a museum that was like a play park. There was a place where you could run around and be a kid. What we did was, me and Maddie went and played in a section and Mum and Dad followed us. Cool, huh?

My favourite part was the caves. It had a really low ceiling. There was a huge whale with long steep slides.

I also liked the part where there were skateboarding ramps that you could run up and slide down. One had a wall of death.

Outside there were loads of slides and a ball pit. There was a school bus sticking out from the roof and a fire engine coming out through the wall. The city museum was a really fun place.

Near St. Louis there is a Native American city called Cahokia. Cahokia was bigger than London in 1250 A.D.! What’s the point in going there? Surely there is none of it left? There’s a whole lot left of Cahokia because is built of earthen mounds! There are burial mounds (circular), mounds that would have had houses or castles on them (flat-top) and even mounds that mark boundaries (triangular prism-ish)!

Can you see St Louis in the background?
Cahokia is pretty amazing, although it took them about 300 years to build the biggest one, the KING’S mound, or as it’s known today Monk’s mound. (Which is the only mound you can climb).

They had some pretty neat ideas too. Such as: ‘Let’s not have a war, let’s have a game of lacrosse (which they invented!), whoever wins gets to ___________'.

After we went to Cahokia and swimming we went to an Italian restaurant. Proper Italian restaurants have more than three courses so I was really full at the end! Dad got lost on the way there and ended up in the middle of a park. I ate spaghetti, Maddie had pizza. It was yummy.

On our last morning in St Louis we went to Steinberg skating rink. It was so fun. At the end, I could go REALLY fast. Maddie, on the other hand had her own way of skating. (Falling over!) Yeah whatever! (Actually I was loads better than Ellen.) I learned that to go you have to put one skate forward and out. Maddie didn’t listen. Grr! Mum also fell on her bottom and hit her head.
